Jane started out as a painter, but soon found she also had a passion for ceramics. She began studying ceramics in 1990 and set up her own workshop in 1992.

Jane was born in Essex and moved to Cambridge in 1962.  It was here that Jane studied ceramics and throughout her many years experience developed her own individual style.

The greatest impact on Jane's style has  been from her time living in Asia where she found inspiration.

"The wonderful simplicity and discipline of the art and culture there is seen in the way even the most humble objects are arranged."

Jane likes to keep her work simple, all her pots are made by hand, using coiling and pinching methods, some are then burnished for smoke firing.  Jane also makes slab and coil pots with abstract designs using velvet glazes, first firing at 1000c then a second firing at 980c.

Jane is a selected member of the Anglian Potters and has exhibited widely in the UK and has work in private collections around the world, including NYC, Saudia Arabia, Japan, Australia & New Zealand. Jane has had pieces in the National Press and Ceramic Review.
